Demolition is a difficult job. Demolition in the face of public outcry is a more difficult job. But getting your ass kicked by a lady mayor while the TV cameras are rolling just takes the difficulties associated with demolition to a whole new level.
So we certainly feel for sheriff Abe Andres of Davao City in the Philippines who face just a dilemma yesterday. Andres and several demolition crews were attempting to start work on the long-awaited demolition of shanties in the city while Mayor Sara Duterte was in court seeking an extension to the demolition deadline.
