A city council candidate is asking Newark City Hall to review the demolition contract for Douglass-Harrison Homes after contractor Nicholas Mazzocchi was identified as the FBI informant in corruption indictment of former Newark Deputy Mayor Ronald Salahuddin.
In a letter sent Tuesday to the City Council and Clerk Robert Marasco, Darrin Sharif — a leading contender for Charlie Bell’s Central Ward seat — questioned Mazzocchi’s legitimacy as a city vendor in light of his cooperation with the FBI.
